Description: The presenters will explore the roles of mental health and social determinants of health in the management of a population's total health. We will explore how emerging sources of data and information have led to a renewed focus on managing mental health conditions and social determinants of health. Speakers will address current health care programs that utilize this data and information to manage the total care for populations using predictive models to improve the deployment of resources and initiatives to improve the cost of care and health of populations. The presenters will also look at how providers of care are approaching mental health co-morbidities to manage physical health and social determinants of health in the management of patients.

Description: At the beginning of 1999, a new model regulation is expected to be approved by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and will regulate risk-based capital for managed care organizations. Description: The National Association of Worksite Medical Clinics reported that one-third of U.S. employers with 5,000+ employees sponsored worksite (onsite) health care centers in 2017, and 24 percent of employers with 500-4,999 either have or plan to implement onsite health care by 2019. This session will explore why onsite health care programs are gaining traction: • Why do employers sponsor onsite healthcare? • What objectives do they hope to achieve? • How does the evidence compare with these objectives?

Description: While intended to assist health plan actuaries responsible for stress testing and ORSA filings, this session will also be informative for actuaries interested in communicating the impact of potential catastrophic events for health plans to their management and board. It will begin with a discussion of event thresholds for stress tests and their impact on capital and financial statements. Presenters will take a detailed look at several catastrophic event case studies (historical and hypothetical) in the following areas: healthcare specific (e.g. pandemic, specialty Rx), financial institution/credit market, operational/business, strategic and multi-event scenarios.</

Description: HIV is still a big public health concern, but there are therapies available to prevent infection before and immediately after exposure. As legislatures and the USPSTF considers adding these therapies to the list of preventive care covered without cost share, actuaries will need to estimate the impact on their care cost. The presenters will share an actuarial tool kit to estimate the impact of covering PrEP and PEP for different populations. Examples are provided and discussion is welcome.
